WHY BECOME A SKI PATROLLER

Hidden Valley Ski Patrol is made up of a group of men and women from diverse backgrounds who share the same passion and love for skiing and want to join that passion with the ability to help or assist their fellow skiers who may be in trouble. Hidden Valley Ski Patrol

1. To be accepted for the next candidate class, you must pass a ski performance test. Applicants must be above average skiers or snow boarders and be able to ski in a controlled and confident manor on all areas of Hidden Valley including the most advanced terrain.

2. Upon acceptance into the candidate training program, you will be required to attend and pass a 10 week - 2 evening a week Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) and CPR Course. (To be held in the spring.)

3. Candidates who successfully complete the OEC course will begin on-the- hill training in December and continue through February. Candidates are required to attend training sessions each Saturday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. You will be trained in ski skills, patroller skills, toboggan handling, on-the-hill first aid, chair lift evacuation and more.

4. All candidates who successfully complete these requirements will become part of the Hidden Valley and National Ski Patrol System.

5. You will be assigned to a team. Each team patrols an 8 hour Saturday or Sunday shift an average of two weekend days a month. Each team rotates between day and night shifts. Day session: 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Night session: 2:30 pm to 10:30 pm. Also, each patroller is scheduled one evening session every three weeks Monday through Friday 6:30 pm - 10:30 pm.
